National Hispanic Heritage Month

Posted Date: 09/18/24 (11:33 AM)

Hello Staff,

National Hispanic Heritage Month is underway! From September 15 to October 15, we celebrate the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American champions who have inspired generations to reach success.

It’s a great reminder to incorporate inclusive content into our curriculum throughout the entire school year, not just during heritage months. To support you in fostering a diverse and welcoming environment for all students, here are some valuable resources you can explore and integrate:

Oregon Historical Society

National Endowment for the Humanities

The Library of Congress

The National Archives

The Smithsonian Institute

Local

Deschutes Public Libary

Central Oregon Events

Latino Fest

OSU Cascades Family Movie Night: Encanto

Here is a message and a photo from Javy Calderon, our Community Liaison/Interpreter.

"Ridgeview High Schools Si Se Puede Club run by Yoselin Viramontes and Myself held our first club meeting of the year. In honor of Hispanic heritage month, we had food from La Frontera here in town. Si Se Puede club  represents cultural pride, unity, and empowerment within our school community. Founded on the principles of leadership, education, and cultural celebration, the club provides a platform for Latinx students to connect, inspire, and support each other. By taking pride in our culture, we educate, give back and cultivate growth and hope."
